First, author Doug Winnie shows how to install and set up the Visual Studio tool to build your application. Next, learn how to use XAML to build a basic structure for your application's interface and customize its design with user- and system-defined styles and options. This user interface connects to application logic with a process called code-behind files, which are written in C#, one of the three languages available to build Windows Phone 8 applications. Finally, discover how to add icons and other design elements to your application and then submit it to Microsoft for inclusion in the Windows Store.
