The extracurricular activities at Byron Nelson High School are almost all equally popular. On the sports side I would have to say football is the most popular. Every game, whether it is a home game or away, our student section creates a splash zone where when we score the students go wild and fling water everywhere on everyone. The second most popular which is a personal favorite is our theater program. Not only does our theater have 3 shows in the program but also has a yearly musical production where anyone in all of Byron can audition. Last year we did "Shrek: The Musical" and it was AMAZING! Almost every night we performed the house was packed and we completely sold out. Our school really tries to support the fine arts unlike many other schools where football is everything. The third most popular extracurricular activity would most definitely be student council. Our student council has been not only invited to the Texas State student council events but also has had our president from last year be the state secretary for student council. Byron Nelson is filled with tons of extracurricular activities including Solar Car Club, TSA, PTSA, Choir, Theater, Orchestra, sports clubs, AMP- a medical academy, Culinary and Hospitality, National Honor Society, French Honor Society, Spanish Honor Society, French Club, Spanish Club, Debate, Book Club, Snowboarding and Skiing Club, and so many more. My personal favorites include French Honor Society, National Honor Society, Choir, and Theater. All of our programs are designed to be super friendly and welcoming to anyone who would like to join. I know that I have found a true family at Byron Nelson High School, especially for me in the fine arts department where you can not only act super crazy but also they will love you for it.
