Someone should attend Drake if they want to get involved, continuously learn throughout all four years, and be in a city that is thriving and named one of the tip cities for young professionals.

Drake is a campus that has a great community feel, it is very welcoming and inclusive with students with very diverse interests. There are also a lot of fun things to explore off campus in Des Moines, like the farmers market, restaurants, and local shops and sights. There are always a lot of things to get involved with on campus, and it is easy to start an organization if it does not already exist on campus.

  1. Drake is a small campus so you get the help you need but yet not so small you see the same people everyday. A student constantly meets new people.
  2. Drake is a blast.
  3. A student definitely gets the best education money can buy.

A real toughy. Drake has got to be the most prestigious university in the state of Iowa. Unlike almost every other private institution in the state, it isn't located in some boring small town- Des Moines is growing fast and has tons of opportunity for college graduates. To top that off, the city's bus system is free to all students- granting instant access to the best places in town.

Students should attend Drake University for three reasons. The tradition that Drake has had over the years. Students who have gone to win high awards through the country, giving credit to the amazing professors. Professors that are wanting you to reach your highest potential. Secondly, Drake University is recognized as one of the finest institutions of higher learning in the Midwest. Private university, that offers benefits and resources of a larger institution. Lastly, the intimate class sizes and close personal relationships that are established with the staff and students.

Your major. My students go to Drake to find the best school for their major. Drake has phenomenal academics packed into a small school. The small school feel allows for better connection between friends, professors, and advisers.

  • Academics, Drake offers a great program, both the honors program and the regular academic program are top notch.
  • People & Teachers, with the small class sizes you really get to know the people here. At Drake You are more than a number the teachers actually know you.
  • Accessibility, if you need to get out of town its easy, Des Monies is a great town but with its access to the interstate and an international airport it is easy to get to and from Des Monies.

If you want to be involved on campus, the opportunities are endless. Drake offers at least 160 clubs and organizations to their students, there really is something for everyone. Also, Drake has a great staff and classes are never taught by TA's. This was an important factor for me, as I want to learn from someone with experience and knowledge in their field. Drake offers one of the best pharmacy programs in the state and is also known for it's actuarial science department. These two majors are a large portion of the student body and attract many students. But if you aren't interested in either, and still want an intimate feel Drake could be the right place for you. It's small enough that professors recognize you on campus and are available during office hours. While being large enough to offer a diverse community.

Drake really cares about their students and will make sure that not only are you equipped to enter the workforce, but they'll help you make the transition. Our placement rate is amazing and our students are not struggling to get jobs. Des Moines is consistently ranked as one of the top cities for young professionals which means there's a plethora of opportunities.

  1. Connections. Say you go to Drake and there will be a job opened up for you.
  2. Academics, the professors really care about the students and will do everything they can to help them.
  3. The people, Drake is a welcoming community that invites any and everyone in.

The size of the school is perfect. It's not too big and not too small. You won't be overwhelmed by how big it is but you also won't feel like you know everyone. It's also nice for the classroom sizes. I haven't had a class bigger than 50 people. The location is also great. Iowa may not have a lot in it but Des Moines is a very nice city. Coming from Minneapolis Des Moines is very small but it's the perfect size for a lot of people and there is plenty to do. The last reason is the people. Everyone here is very nice and welcoming.

The top three reasons somebody should attend Drake University is because of Drakes accredability, how friendly and helpful the professors are, and how much it feels like home (which is important when you're away).

  1. Small class sizes/ small campus
  2. Private school in Division I athletics
  3. Double majors are easy to do

Drake is a small school, but not too small, average class sizes run around 25 students allowing much more one on one time with a professor and easier discussions for a more well rounded learning experience. Most professors also insist on meeting with students individually at least once during the semester to see how the class is treating them and how they can better support the students' learning. Also, the size allows the capability to walk around campus and always have one person to say "hi" to, but you don't have to know everybody either.

  1. Everyone, and I mean everyone (students, profs, admin), wants to see you succeed and reach your full potential.
  2. The size of the school makes the education personal, yet abundant with opportunities.
  3. You will rarely find someone here who doesn't set high expectations of themselves, the cost of the school is extremely high, so everyone is there, wants to be there. Not just like large state party schools; yes there are more opportunities and possibly more well known, some students are there just because they don't know what else to do with their lives other than school. Drake students may not know their future career, but they will be prepared to the fullest extent for life after college.
