Georgetown University offers a diverse curriculum. The class settings are kept small so as to allow more student-professor interaction. The administration has developed and maintained a philosophy of excellence in academics as well as life in general. Students are driven to excel beyond means of which they never have.

The location is incomparable -- we're at the center of our nation's government. Georgetown is the best university in Washington DC and offers the best opportunities to its students. The name of Georgetown also carries quite a bit of prestige. As the saying goes, "presidents go to Georgetown." When people hear our name, they're impressed and are more likely to respect a Georgetown alum.

  1. The community! Georgetown students are men and women for others, hoyas who help hoyas. The primary reason anyone should consider attending Georgetown is because of the incredibly tight knit community of students from diverse international backgrounds.
  2. The location! Georgetown is located in the heart of the Georgetown Neighborhood, and only a few minutes from M street, so Georgetown students can have an incredible shopping experience at their fingertips and feel ensconced in a more suburban setting while actually sitting in the heart of DC. You can stay on the hilltop all day, or take an evening run past the White House if you feel like it.
  3. The values. Georgetown prides itself on its Jesuit values, and although many students are not Catholic, we all pride ourselves on maintaining the moral and ethical standards set forth by the Jesuit values of Georgetown University. Plus, taking a class from a Jesuit is something every Georgetown student wants to cross of their bucket list!

Access to myriad internship and volunteer opportunities in the nation's capital, the opportunity to attend lectures by influential guest speakers, such as former President Bill Clinton, and the ability to learn more about history at the myriad of free museums, including the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum, are great reasons to attend Georgetown University; and those are just three reasons that make Georgetown University unique.

I am starting at Georgetown in Fall 2015, so I cannot speak to the merits of the school yet, but I applied to Georgetown University because it has one of the best programs for what I want to get my master's degree in, I wanted to be around all the museums in DC, and Georgetown is a very recognizable name.
