Like any other high school, football is by far the most talked about sport in Pueblo West. But, basketball for both boys and girls is also very popular out at our high school. And volleyball definitely comes before baseball, dance team, cheer, soccer, swim, and lacrosse. Although these three sports teams come very close to advancing to state, playoffs, and other championships it seems that they still are not good enough to compete with the other high schools. However, our student section is growing bigger, louder, and more spirited as the years go by. So maybe our teams just need a little more love from their audience!

At Pueblo West High School there are a variety of extracurriculars that are available for students to get involved in. The three that are most popular are DECA, Student Government, and FCA. The extracurricular that I would recommend would be student government. It is a great way to not only get involved at school, but in the community. Being a member of Student Government you are provided with the opportunity to participate in various volunteer projects such as organizing the local holiday food drive as well as visiting with the elderly at the nursing homes.

I think that you'll get several different answers from anyone that you asked here. I'm a fine arts kid, so a lot of my friends are in band, choir, and drama. However, from my perspective here, the three slightly more popular extracurricular activities here are sports (specifically football and track), band, and dance. I would recommend band because it's a great program and we have awesome people who have our back: local businesses, band parents, taxpayers, anything really. We actually just got an amazing new auditorium/fine arts facility thanks to those who voted positively on the ballot. Overall I'd recommend band though because there we're really all one family, everyone supports one another; it's just a really great atmosphere.

The three extracurricular activities at Pueblo West that are most popular with the students are DECA, Student Council, and National Honor Society. While I am only apart of one of these activities, I know for a fact that each one of them are perfect for every student at Pueblo West. Personally, DECA is easily one extracurricular activity that I would recommend. Not only does it teach you business, it also gives you plenty of life lessons. DECA has taught me more than any other activity I have been apart of.
