The first reason people usually come to Grand Rapids Community College is to save money. You acquire University Level courses and transfer them for much less than you would attending a University for 4 years. Grand Rapids Community College is also the place to go if you are unsure of what to do for a career. They offer a range of classes that you never know might spark a passion for future career choices. Lastly you should attend GRCC if you want a much easier transition from High School to the college environment. Four year Universities can be overwhelming at first, and can sometimes lead to problems with academics.

The first reason would be to learn skills needed to succeed in a usual college class. These skills could be test taking and study skills or they could be skills thought in English classes for those students students struggling with the language. GRCC offers rigorous English for Second Language Learners (ESLL) classes so that everyone will have the chance to succeed in a 4 year college, graduate school and beyond. The second reason would be for students who might have had struggles in core classes like Maths and Science classes in high school. GRCC offers basic maths and science courses like high school algebra, to encourage students to continue their dreams of becoming doctors or scientists, but who were otherwise doing poorly in those classes. The third reason would be from a financial point of view. The cost of attendance for a GRCC student is very low compared to other 4 year colleges. In addition, GRCC allows any willing student to attend at any semester (fall, winter or summer), to take their degree required classes when they are from other colleges r universities.

I love it! What sold me completely on the school is the help the staff are willing to provide you. I went in blind because I am a first generation student. The area was important to me, I feel safe and comfortable. Last but not least is the hands on experience the students get, you're not just learning everything out of a textbook.

The number one reason would be if you want to save some money from going straight to a university, because community college is much more inexpensive. The second would be that they might not know what they want to do, and want to get their general education finished before so they don't waste time away from schooling. The third thing i believe someone would attend GRCC for would be to stay in the heart of Grand Rapids! There aren't many schools that offer such a community in the heart of the city in Michigan.
