There are many faucets to the typical UND student. Students at UND are tough, hard working, dedicated students. There is a grittiness to the students on campus, one that is refined by the harsh winters and rigorous course work, this paints a rather grim picture of students dressed up as soldiers marching around campus, but thats not true, students on campus are some of the warmest and friendliest people in the mid west, which is in direct contrast to the freezing weather! A typical student on campus is rather conservative in their views, but that is not to say that their minds are not open, which creates an excellent opportunity for open dialogue when conflicting views arrive because UND students are never afraid to voice their opinions and then defend them. The types of students that should look towards this great college should be ones that are internally motivated do their best, as well as students are nice and willing to be open to new experiences. Students looking towards UND should have active imaginations and great people skills. Prospective students should also bring their own personal experiences with them and be ready to create new experiences, because at UND the typical student learns a lot about themselves in the four years they spend on campus

A UND student should be open to a community environment. Grand Forks is a pretty small town and most things revolve around the university. People will want to know what you study, did you see the last hockey game, who are your favorite professors. A typical UND student needs to be tough enough to get through the coldest winters in the lower 48 and still make it to class.

The University of North Dakota (UND) is one of three universities that offers an accredited distance program for mechanical engineering. The ideal person that should attend UND, as a distance student, must possess a high level of discipline and self-motivation. As a distance student, it is very easy to mismanage time and fall behind in classes. Therefore discipline, especially the ability to manage time, is a necessary quality one must possess to be a distance student attending the University of North Dakota. Also, self-motivation is needed towards the end of each semester because ,typically, one is balancing preparing for finals and working full-time or fulfilling other responsibilities.

I would say the University of North Dakota doesn't really have a typical "type" of person in which most people are like. UND is a very well rounded school in my opinion. Because of our nation leading aviation program we get a lot of exchange students along with people from all over states. We also have many promising grad programs like medical school, psychology, and many more which makes it a well rounded university.

A typical student is interested in the medical and law fields. As a land grant institution the university is able to offer many opportunities for pre-professional career oriented students. A student that is focused and open to delving into their studies and relationships should attend the University of North Dakota.

We contain a lot of aviation students and greek life here is also huge. So if someone is intterested in those things, I would recommend coming here to school! The weather is a bit cold, but it is manageable.
