The type of students who should attend those is the mentally endurant. Brooks is a school full of some of the most rigorous courses you'll ever take on the South side of Chicago, if you're going to go to this high school you must be mature enough to commit to what you're doing. At Gwendolyn Brooks, I'm in the presence of peers who possess a strong will and commitment to what they're doing, they know that the work they're putting in (no matter how draining it can be at times) will pay off in the long-run. As the end of my senior year slowly comes to an end these same individuals, who've been dedicated and handling every taxing obstacle along the way, are being offered full ride scholarships to some of the best colleges in the nation. At Brooks, you have to be mentally endurant and willing to adapt because you're learning at quite a rapid pace. The students who should attend Brooks College Preparatory Academy High School are those who have a passion for their future and the things they want to accomplish in life, these are the students who will be able to march on and, much like my fellow classmates and I, tackle every obstacle the school will throw at them with commitment, strong will, and mental brilliance.

I am a very hard working student. I do my best to go to tutoring for all of my classes at least once a week. I don't like the feeling of being lost in a class. Most students find it easy to complain about what others are doing, but I do my best to change that outlook and I study as much and often as I can. I know this is absolutely needed, I take my education very serious. I have often struggled to comprehend a subject matter but I will always look for extra help to understand. Quitting isn’t an option because if you do quit you will never know how much you can take and if you can rise to the challenge
