Most students at Prairie State are students of which mind their own path. A great range in age groups makes for a respectable surrounding. In which people assume that others are here to further their career or create one.

The type of person that should attend Prairie State is someone who is serious about their future and career goals. Prairie State students range from all types of different races mostly African American. The typical student takes two year prerequisites and are in their major course for two years going toward a associates degree.

A typical Prairie State College students is a hard-working, determined student willing to do whatever it takes to succeed in their studies. If they need help they will ask for it and if others need help, they are willing to give their help. They have a lot of school spirit and will go to athletic events to cheer on our Pioneers! When it comes to being at Prairie State, the students act like a family giving help and support when needed.
