South Dakota State University is a very affordable college with tuition easily under $15,000. It is the perfect place for any students with a tight budget. The environment at SDSU is awesome. Everyone is friendly and anyone can find a group with similar interest as himself or herself. It is a smaller school so you might see familiar faces everyday. Lastly SDSU has the LLC living learning center where you can live on the same floor as people with the same academic interest as you, meaning you had a lot of the same classes so when it's time to get work done you could get together and finish it.

The West River Nursing program has a very competitive mentality and it pushes you to learn and take the knowledge you learn with you into the coming years, and eventually into being a nurse. You never feel like you are learning something you are not going to use. There are tons of helpful professors, administrators, and counselors that really want you to succeed, and feel passionately about helping you get there. Lastly, everyone in the nursing program is becoming a nurse, so even though there is competition you have tons of people who are good resources to study with, learn with, and you tend to have a lot in common with.

The people are pretty great, the school is small enough that everyone has a chance to find their niche, and the school is large enough that there is a niche for everyone.

I believe the biggest reason someone should attend South Dakota State University is the atmosphere. South Dakota in general is a very welcoming state, the university portrays that responsibility and makes everyone feel welcome. Another reason students should attend SDSU is the price. I often speak with students from out of state and they rave at how low the cost of SDSU is compared to other University's. My third reason is we have the dairy bar. This was one of my favorite places to hangout, do homework, and eat ice cream that has been made right on our university.

The top three reasons someone should attend South Dakota State University include the prestigious academic departments, complete with over 70 undergraduate majors, as well as masters and doctorate level programs in many fields. Secondly, the atmosphere both on and off campus is second to none. The community welcomes university students with open arms. Finally, South Dakota State University is home to the largest one day event in the Dakotas, Hobo Day. Hobo Day is SDSU's annual homecoming day, complete with tailgating, alumni events, of course a football game, and the appearance of hundreds of students, alumni, future jackrabbits, parents, faculty, and the occasional animal, all donning hobo attire.

3 reasons why someone should attend South Dakota State University follow: 1) Most of the students are from the Midwest and we are pretty humble people I would say. We take being a Midwestern with pride! We do say to ourselves sometimes why would stay in the Midwest? But it always comes back to why wouldn't we want to stay here? It's a great place to raise family's and be close to family. 2) We have the best food places compared to other colleges. Period. Not only do we have a Chick fila, we have Panda Express, Pita Express, World Famous Dairy Bar that created the Cookies and Cream flavor ice cream, Two Erberts and Gerberts, Market Place to get pasta, wraps, sandwiches, nachos, burgers, fries, salads, soup, pizza and more, a Larson Commons to get homemade foods, Einesteins Bagels, Weary Wils (Lik Applebees), and multiple Convenience stores around campus. 3) Our campus is not spread out around the town. Its all centrally located and easy access! The buildings are all close to eachother and if I timed it I could walk around the whole campus in less than 45 minutes. Its that mid sized college where if you don't want too big or too small. Its the perfect size for anybody looking for a great college! Athletic events are always fun to go to since we are getting a million dollar football complex in 2016. Games are fun and exhilarating to attend. This is why SDSU is a great college to attend! Go Big! Go Blue! Go Jacks!
