Any type of person could, and should, attend the University of Tennessee-Knoxville.
The most daunting thing about UTK is the sheer size, but in reality, it is not nearly as intimidating as it seems. The physical size of the campus is large, but that means there are multiple libraries, student centers, a great football stadium, a fabulous agriculture campus, and an impressive communications building. Furthermore, the actual population of the school is not a bad thing. Because of the large number of students, there are numerous student groups and activities.
For me, one of the great things about UTK is the availability of supplemental student programs and lectures that are free for students. The International House offers unique cultural and social immersions that provide great perspective and experience.
Most importantly, the quality of education I have received at the University of Tennessee is indescribable. I've been blessed to meet great professors-- like Dr. Stephanie Bohon, Dr. Victor Ray, and Dr. Regina Benedict-- who take special interest in helping their students both academically and professionally.
