Describe the type of student who should not attend Dupont Manual High School and explain why.

Anything that goes against what I said in the previous question. Being judgmental and harsh won't get you anywhere in this school nor in life. It definitely gives you and insight on how the world works. Everyone does their own thing and everyone around them goes about their own business. If someone does something cool, being envious in this school won't work. You have to put yourself out there, show everyone else in the school what makes you different.

When I read the prompt for this essay, the first word that came to mind was "slacker". As I stated in the previous essay, one has to be more determined than the average student. Making it through DuPont Manual with a cumulative GPA of 3.6 was, by far, the most difficult thing I have ever had to do. If one isn't serious about his or her schoolwork, I wouldn't even bother applying, because this school is not for the faint of heart.

Students who don't apply themselves, don't want to immerse themselves, and don't have much school spirit probably shouldn't attend. Unlike some other high schools, I'd say probably 85% of students at Manual are very involved in whatever program they are in. This can be a lot for a hands-off or lazy student. Also, because of the nature of the selective process, most kids at Manual WANT to be there and subsequently, Spirit Week is crazy important and the kids are VERY enthusiastic. Manual kids attend lots of pep rallies each year and actually have TWO Spirit Weeks instead of one. One for football homecoming, and one for basketball.
