By far, LAMP's most popular extracurriculars are National Honor Society, Tailgate Club, and Showing Our Other Side (SOOS). The first, NHS, is a given. LAMP is foremost an academic school so the majority of students are highly motivated, intelligent, and academically achieving. A large portion of the student body meets the qualifications to join NHS based on grades and personal merit and most participate throughout their high school career in the myriad of various service opportunities offered by NHS. The next most popular club at LAMP is the tailgating club, an organization that provides free food for its members, grilling burgers, hotdogs, and chicken wings before football games as well as random Friday afternoons. For obvious reasons ( do the words "free" and "food" give any ideas?) tailgating club is a big hit among students. Finally, SOOS is a highly popular extracurricular at LAMP as well as my personal recommendation since I direct the opening night. SOOS is LAMP's talent show; because LAMP is a highly academically motivated school, SOOS is a very important since it gives students an outlet and opportunity to showcase their talents. SOOS features everything from speed painting, ballet, and step dancing to karate performances, classical guitar, and contemporary Indian dancing. LAMP offers many diverse extracurricular activities that cater to its students' wide range of talents and interests whether academic, artistic, or just plain fun.
