Student, Bad Axe High School, Class of 2016,
The most popular activity group at Bad Axe High School is most definitely our many available sports. From basketball to volleyball, students here participate in sports more than any other activity. They are open to anyone in the student body who wants to participate, and they are a great way to bring together students, their families, and other schools. Secondly, our various council groups. With the different groups available, nearly everyone is or has been a part of one. Our Student Council and National Honors Society are the two most popular councils. Our most recent addition, the Mayor's Youth Council, is climbing its way up the ranks though. Personally, I would recommend the Mayor's Youth. As the treasurer for the council last year (and hopefully this upcoming year), I had a wonderful time volunteering, doing community service, and learning more about how our local government works. Finally, our third most popular extracurricular activity would be participating in the many performing art groups that Bad Axe has to offer. The most popular out of these would be the band and the choir. As I was an active member of the band for seven years, I would surely recommend it. It is a great creative outlet, and I met a lot of my closest friends through the band program. Aside from the band and choir, the plays and musicals are also great creative activities to be a part of. Not only do they entertain the student body and the community, but they help raise money for the school, bring together all sorts of students, and even include the band. Different sport activities are also wonderful for these reasons, as well. All three of these extracurricular activity groups are great assets to the school, and they are a fun way of meeting new friends, learning new skills, and broadening your horizons.
