The top three reasons someone should attend Southern Oregon University are because of the community, size, and location. Our campus has such a tight-knit community, it is so easy to make friends and to be apart of the student body. I love the size of the school. Some might say it's too small, but I think it is just right. With only a little over 6,000 students, you are able to really get to know your professors. My largest class this past term was 90 students and my professor still knew who I was. It is a really comforting feeling to have a small, close-knit school with a community you can truly feel apart of. I also adore the location of the school. Ashland, Oregon is such a beautiful place to live. It has so many cute parks and an adorable downtown with so many shops. Medford, Oregon is only 20 minutes away which has a mall for your more commerical needs. The campus is just so beautiful and I couldn't be happier with my choice to attend Southern Oregon University.

SOU is located in a fairly small town. As a result, the campus is not crowded and is pretty close-knit. Another benefit is the class sizes are small and taught by great professors.

Southern Oregon has a beautiful campus that is very compact and small so that moving around, especially on foot, is made much easier. Some of the majors at this school are unlike majors you could find at any other school, which brings in a lot of people studying a certain major. Also, the classes are small which gives the student a more personal relationship with their teacher. At bigger universities the professor may not even know your name, but at SOU you can get hands on help from a professor that actually cares about your success.

The top 3 reasons are inclusivity, academic support, and rooting for success. The campus is very inclusive and is open to all types of personalities. If a personality is not represented on campus, the school is very supportive of creating a club or group that will cater to that particular mindset. The professors and faculty/staff are very supportive when it comes to academics. There are many helpful departments on campus that are solely dedicated to helping students succeed in the most efficient and less stressful manner. Moreover, the atmosphere that the campus gives off is one of "rooting for student's success." This is very important in feeling welcomed and safe to make mistakes, along with being able to thrive in our environment. When walking around campus, it is evident that everyone there wants to see their fellow classmates or students succeed in life and be successful.
