The "popular" crowd at North Park belongs to the covenant church, is of Scandinavian heritage, and has a summer camp aesthetic. However, many students at NPU do not fit this category. NPU has a lot of international students (mostly from Europe) and a lot of commuter students that give the campus a diverse population. Still, the majority of NPU students are white. NPU is a good school for someone who wants the benefits of a small school, but also the opportunities of a big city.

The one thing I love most about North Park is that there is no typical student. While the school itself is a self-proclaimed Christian school, it opens its arms to all who want to learn, regardless of creed. This makes for quite an interesting melting pot of people. Being a religious school, as a student you must take two semesters of religion - Intro to Bible and an elective (in religious studies of course). The mixture of atheists, devouts and agnostics makes these classes amazingly interesting as you have many different points of view; and the students at NP are all so open minded, which makes these debates constructive.

I think there's a niche for everyone at NP - everyone fits somewhere, as long as you're open minded and willing to respect the opinions of others!

The typical North Park University student does not exist. Everyone is unique, special and created by God. The diversity at North Park while nestled in the urban community sets this University apart from all the others with its range of professors, students and areas of study. There are over 40 languages spoken on campus. Students can join clubs and organizations like the neighborhood tutor program where they go into schools after school and provide academic assistance to the community. The type of person that attends North Park should love life, themselves, others and God. The happiest North Parkers are the ones who practice gratitude and focus on loving life consistently.

Although North Park University is a Christian university, the school is very multicultural and everyone is welcome. The staff and students are very friendly and you will always feel welcome at the school. Some of the classes are at an accelerated pace so they only last 7 weeks. Therefore, the student must be very productive and not a procrastinator.

The typical North Park University student is someone who is looking to make himself or herself more than just a better student or more educated in a particular field. At North Park, people look to grow in ways beyond the simple book learning from classes. Though the content of classes is extremely important, students are also challenged to grow as people. This can happen through critical thinking and challenging of professors, the diversity of the area, or even becoming familiar with one of the world's premier cities as people work their way through Chicago. Ultimately, North Park students want to grow in dynamic ways, making them unique in their pursuit to better themselves.

North Park University is home to a wide variety of students. In my opinion, there is no typical student at NPU. Each person is unique and different in their own way, and that's what makes it so great. At North Park we emphasize our differences and learn to love them. The only common thing among students is our willingness to help and general kindness.
