Singing, dancing, acting: performing. Since AMDA is a performing arts college, the number one thing students do for fun is, in fact, perform. Whether it be a school-wide production, in a class at 9am, or simply in front of their peers at lunch, students at AMDA revel in the pure joy of performing whenever given the opportunity. For these students, performing is their sense of self--it contributes a large amount to all of the small attributes that make up a person. You will see the most genuine, blissful smiles on the face of a student after a performance.
Although everyone at AMDA thoroughly enjoys showing off their craft, they also admire the time they take to take a step back and applaud their fellow classmates. With the bountiful performance opportunities AMDA offers, it's impossible to be a participant in every activity. Because of this motif, whenever you yourself aren't performing, you're watching your peers showcase their talent. The AMDA community is eminently supportive and relishes in the fact of being able to attend shows to not only applaud friends, but to experience and learn from the stage at hand.
AMDA is located in the heart of Los Angeles. With the Hollywood Walk of Fame as the walkway to class and Hollywood Boulevard just steps away, there's no doubt that there are numerous things students do outside of the realm of performing to have a good time. One of the most popular activities, however, is to take a break from the long hours of class and escape the hustle of city life by heading out to Santa Monica or Venice beach to soak up the warm, inviting California sunshine. With both beaches only being about 30 minutes away, students at AMDA enjoy the luxury of being able to bury their toes in the cool sand, eat a savory dinner on the pier, and watch the rich hues of the sun setting fill the sky on a regular basis. Whether it's a day trip on the weekend or an evening cruise after class, AMDA students love to indulge themselves at the beach.
