A lot of students really like to be outdoors, so hiking, ski/snowboarding, camping, running, fishing, biking. Also a lot of students really like to party. Third, a lot of students like to hang around the large fields on campus and do any sort of hang out activity.

  1. Get outside and stay active. There is a huge community of outdoor enthusiasts in Boulder and the local geography supports a full range of activities.
  2. Attend university-sponsored events. The university puts on a whole bunch of really awesome and inspiring events for the student and local population. These events are quite popular amongst the student body and allow everyone the opportunity to think, share, and connect.
  3. Eat. There is a wonderful culture of natural, local, and healthy foods here that will inspire even the most unhealthy of eaters to branch out and try something good. Every Saturday (during season) is a beautiful farmers market that is always packed with students picking up healthy brain food for the coming week.

I believe the best things to do at UC Boulder for fun are to go hiking or biking into the Flatiron Mountains, walk around Pearl Street and enjoy the unique culture that is Boulder, and finally go to a sports game because there is nothing greater than supporting the Buffs to victory!

Ice-skating, swimming, and rock climbing, all at the rec center. There is a huge ice- skating rink. Also, there are two swimming pools. A competition one inside and a CU Buff shaped one outside. The rock wall is more like a rock canyon, spanning three stories. It is all very cool.

Well living in Boulder one of the top things I do for fun is rock climbing. I cannot speak for the rest of the student body, but I really enjoy rock climbing. Another thing I like to do for fun is go to the many lectures offered at CU, one of the most anticipated lectures I look forward to is seeing the Dalai Lama. Since going to CU, I don't think there is one person who doesn't like bike riding.

Boulder is a very active town, and so are the students. This is why it makes CU a very highly sought after university. Boulder is a bike town; almost every student on campus owns a bike. Cars are more of a burden, and that is one of the reasons students bike on campus and all through Boulder. The next most common thing for students to do is to go hiking. There are endless trails, and we as a student body are lucky to have the mountains and the flatirons as our personal playground. The third and final thing that students do for fun is spend time at our newly renovated Rec Center. There are activities for every level of fitness, and Boulder is an inspirational place to be healthy and fit.
In conclusion, the students at the University of Colorado Boulder enjoy using the playground Mother-Nature has provided us with.

The students at the University of Colorado Boulder are extremely outdoor oriented, with the top three activities including rock climbing the Flat Irons next to campus, as well as hiking and biking around Boulder!

Anonymous, Student, University of Colorado Boulder, Class of 2019

At my University, both hiking and biking are very popular pass times, the campus is very spread out, so many students rely on their bicycles to get where they need to go, and then take their bikes to more scenic and challenging locations in their spare time as a recreational activity. Hiking is equally popular, with so many excellent hiking paths and regions near to the University. Snowboarding or skiing is also highly popular. Being so near the Rocky Mountains, and many of us having grown up skiing or snowboarding ourselves, once winter time rolls around, many of the University students hit the slopes.

Many other students choose to travel the short distance to many of the hiking parks nearby and spend their time hiking and enjoying the many amazing views around Boulder. If they choose to not do either of those they will explore downtown Boulder and enjoy the amazing food and sightseeing around the city itself.

Students at CU Boulder truly enjoy hiking and climbing the Flatirons which are the most famous icons in Boulder. They also shop at the historic Pearl Street Mall and watch eccentric street performers in this outdoor strip center. This mall is extremely unique because it does not boast many chain restaurants and stores; it has smaller businesses that thrive in this environment. The third most popular activity is of course skiing which is enjoyed by a vast majority of students on campus. Boulder is surrounded by many ski towns which host CU Boulder students all throughout the winter.

Since this school is so closely located to the Flatirons the outdoors are a huge draw! Hiking, rock climbing, bouldering hold an interest for a large majority of the students. During the winter months campus is regularly emptied for the slopes as skiing and snowboarding are a great way to be outdoors and relax! While walking through the campus on a regular day the common areas and quads are busy with people sunbathing, throwing a football, tossing a frisbee, or just doing their school work in the beautiful Colorado sun. So I'm not sure that I could limit us to a top three except for the fact that at CU we are always enjoying our time outside and value the area we chose to study at, and that the key to a healthy student and campus is balancing your studies with exercise and doing what you love!
