Theres plenty of things to do around the Bay Area. I personally love to go on hiking trails, take trips to San Francisco, and go to music festivals in the area
Cal students can facilitate a semester-long class made and developed by them (or students before them) through the DeCal Program on campus, which stands for Democratic Education at Cal. One of my friends who is a Senior facilitates a DeCal called FemSex, and she says it's the highlight of her college experience by far! Golden Bears also have plenty of on-campus events and activities to take part in: sporting events, movie nights, symposiums, socials, or a one-of-a-kind event such as the one I participated in back in 2011--being one of 500 other Cal students who made the world's longest California Roll! The third thing that Cal students do for fun is definitely going out to nearby San Francisco or Oakland to enjoy all of the Bay area's food, culture, and night life.
UC Berkeley is filled with interesting things to do. The number one thing students do for fun is going to the sports games, especially the ones against Stanfurd (intentionally misspelled). They competitive rivalry between the two schools is legendary. Students at Cal also enjoy going sailing on the Bay. We have special clubs designed around taking students out on the water for free. It's really popular in the summer. Ignoring the obvious third choice of protesting or starting right's movements, the third thing Berkeley students love to do is go hiking. Being perfectly situated at the bottom of the hills, we have tons of hiking trails. Just yesterday, my friend hiked one before sunrise and took a picture of herself cupping the rising sun!
If time permits students at Berkeley, have social parties/ get together to relax in their own homes. Next most popular thing is have deep conversation about anything have particular weight to talk for hours. Lastly people dance or sing.
For fun, UC Berkeley students often go to San Francisco, eat at ethnic restaurants, and hike the Big C or Fire Trails routes.
No. 1 Go to the theatre; there are a number of productions on campus, some of which are quite good. No. 2 Visit the UC Botanical Gardens, which are open to the public. No. 3 Visit the library.
The top three things that most students I socialize with do for fun are 1) Get involved with greek/philanthropy life 2) Get involved with Campus Crusades 3) Enjoy the hiking trails
1) Honestly, study! It's why we're all there! 2) Play/listen to live music. The weirder the better! 3) Plot business ventures. I have never been at a place with a more startup environment.
The top three things that students do for fun at the University of California Berkeley is to go the gym, hang out with friends, and to go to sporting events. Going to the gym is fun at Berkeley because it is a stress reliever from all the difficult classes that students have to take. It is also another way to become healthier and stronger. Students also like to hang with friends because it is another way to relieve stress and to be happier. Going to sporting events is also fun because students get to show their school pride as well as have someone to root for.
I go bouldering with my friends; I go to San Francisco with my friends; and I go slack-lining with my friends.
Normally, we go on hikes because Berkeley has beautiful trails. We head to Sproul Hall as there's always a yoga class or a dance going on at night, and we restaurant hop because the streets leading to campus are fill with all sorts of eateries from all around the world!
The most fun things students I know do in their free time include hiking in the hills behind campus, strolling around the shops of Telegraph Avenue, and spending time in San Francisco.
Hike to the Big C, study together in the Student Learning Center, get boba or milk-tea from their favorite bob shop.
1) Hike up to the Big C for a gorgeous view of campus and surrounding areas 2) Hop on the BART (Bay Area Rapid Transport -- a subway system) to San Francisco and explore what the city has to offer 3) Protest
The UC Botanical Garden holds one of the most diverse gardens in the United States. It is thirty-four acres, possesses more than 12,000 plants, and is ideal for a picnic date. In addition, the Pacific Film Archive screens cutting-edge films of all varieties. Moreover, the exhibition showcases a wide array of photographers. Finally, the Larence Hall of Science offers Saturday night stargazing, a planetarium, and breathtaking panoramic views of the Bay. Even better, Berkeley students receive free admission and a 10% discount on scrumptious treats at the cafe!
Study, study, and then study some more! The coursework at Berkeley is intensive and requires many hours of reading and study time. While we do lots of other things for fun, such as roaming around the city, hopping on the Bart train to San Francisco, or staging a protest somewhere on campus, studying is our favorite pastime.
As with most colleges, football is a big thing for the students here. When football season begins in the Fall, most of the students get together and go to the games. Rivalry week is a big deal for the students here. It really brings up the spirit around campus.
Most of the students here on campus are also involved in clubs. They join clubs of interest so that they can be involved in something they are passionate about. The meetings are usually held once to twice a week and its a way for them to engage with people of similar interests.
College is a stressful place, so students sometimes need a place to go and relax. Memorial Glade is the perfect spot for relaxing and studying with friends. Sometimes people get together and play frisbee or flag football in the glade as well. It is a fun, relaxing area to spend time.
First they like to go to Memorial Glade to read a book, hang out, or thrown a Frisbee. Berkeley college students also love going to the gym and exercising due to gyms offering such great variety of fun classes. Berkeley students participate in various social movements and protests.

1) Try all of the food stores around campus. 2) Go to downtown Berkeley to explore and hang around 3) Hop on a bus or BART and explore San Francisco, Oakland, ect.
We all like to play music loudly and proudly in protest of something or just for fun, mess around with chemicals in a lab, and avoid the GOAT STAMPEDES
We tend to go out and buy food from the different types of restaurants available. We relax on memorial doe, a large lawn in front of Doe Library. Lastly, we enjoy procrastinating, especially papers that are due the next day.
Attend local events (e.g. free concerts, markets, etc.), explore and hike through beautiful trails and hills, take the Bart to San Francisco to shop and sight see.

At UC Berkeley, the amount of things for students to do cannot possibly be limited. However, here are what I believe to the top three activities for students to accomplish while on campus:
1) Exploring the culinary makeup of the city Whether students are in the mood for Korean Soft Tofu Soup or ice cream nestled in between freshly baked ice cream, there is always the perfect restaurant to satisfy a hungry student's cravings
2) Attending sports games Not only are Cal students dedicated in the classroom, but they are also diehard sports fans. Cal students cheer on their fellow Golden Bears from the football field to the basketball court all the way to the swimming pool.
3) Taking adventures From spending a weekend kayaking in the Berkeley Marina to taking a midnight hike up to the Big C, students are always on the lookout for adventures.
Most people enjoy hiking on sunny days, going to San Francisco on weekends, and eating out at one of the many small, down-to-earth restaurants near campus and in Oakland.
Berkeley students like to take frequent trips to San Francisco. They also like to explore different restaurants of different nationalities. They also like to hike up to the big C which is a big yellow letter c on a hill that is located on the Berkeley campus.
When we're not studying, we're getting to know each other or becoming more involved in an extracurricular. As freshman at Berkeley, there are endless things to do for fun. For me, if I'm not hanging out with the people I live with, studying, or at work, then probably, I'm involved in the Cal Hurling Team (an Irish club sport), watching a film, or doing community service.
Attend a concert at the Greek Theater, hang out with friends and classmates at the Jupiter pub, go for a hike in Tilden Park.
Hiking around the Berkeley, explore San Francisco, and go out to eat at local restaurants.
Study late in the night at Main Stacks library.
When we actually want to have fun though, CONCERTS HELD AT THE GREEK, attend CAL football games, Spend time with friends.

There are many cultures that make up the Berkeley community so you have to get a taste of them all.
The top 3 things students do for fun at Berkeley are eating, hiking around campus and the surrounding landscape, and studying into long hours of the night. There are many places to eat in Berkeley, so it's almost natural for people to go out, meet up, and eat together at one or more of the many restaurants, pastry shops, boba places, and froyo places. There's also a wide range of food from different cultures, so many students who are not from white culture can eat things that are more familiar. There are different trails in our hills that people hike on for fun. These hikes can suffice as a work out or a way to catch a concert from Greek theater without paying. But of course, students hike on a daily basis along the slopes of our campus grounds. There are some students who study all the time, leaving no time for conventional fun. Therefore they turn studying into their fun time, too.
The top three things that students do for fun at UC Berkeley is going out to hang out with friends. There's a lot of friendly people here and everyone is open to making new friends! Because UC Berkeley is so close to San Francisco, students tend to take BART and make day trips there! Also, there's a lot of good food to eat in Berkeley.
Cal students often go for a "boba run" in between study sessions. At the beginning of the semester, when hopes and energy levels are still high, they love to go hiking. Most of all, Cal students love watching Netflix.

Petting squirrels is the top thing that UC Berkeley's students do in the campus. Since there are so many squirrels all around the UC Berkeley's campus, we love to have fun with them. Some students even bring some food to feed them. Squirrels in Berkeley are like pets in our homes. They do not afraid of students as everyone loves and protects them.
The second one is the traditional UC Berkeley's event: the naked Run. Every semester, the week before the final examination week, a group of students take off all their clothes and run across the Main Stack. This event is for students to relieve their stress.
The third thing that UC Berkeley's student do for fun is to ask someone who are wearing red to take off their red clothes during the Big Game week. Red is representing Stanford. The Big Game is a competition between UC Berkeley and Stanford. Therefore, students wear blue and yellow to support UC Berkeley during the Big Game week.
