What are the top 3 things that students do for fun at University of Southern California?

The top three things students do for fun at USC vary depending on what one's interest are. Being that there are an abundance of opportunities and experiences in Los Angeles, many venture out and enjoy the near constant sunshine at one of the many beaches, or the endless activities and food options at the closely located LA Live. Now if students don't have the means to travel away from campus or would rather do activities on campus, there are also numerous opportunities to enjoy an array of fun things at the school. Almost every night of the week and weekend, a different organization holds some type of event, whether it be volunteering with underprivileged children from the area playing different sports, watching the screenings of soon to be released films, or just gathering and meeting different students and alumni. With an abundance of parties and social gatherings happening and the diversity on this campus it definitely is not difficult to find something fun to do. And even combining academics and social gatherings can be achieved in all parts of campus ranging from the library to new student facilities. Whatever a student's definition of fun may be they can find it at USC.

Students are very sports orientated at USC. Students love to attend sports games, especially the football games. With tons of school spirit and pride the Trojan spirit comes alive. Students also love to attend concerts and many students perform at venues on campus. Finally many students love to go outdoors and explore nature.

I suppose the usual USC student attends frat parties, and sorority philanthropies for fun. As a film student, I like to spend my free time making short films with friends, going to euro to dollar the beach, and attending local concerts.

Admissions decisions had just been sent out, but this year my school decided to do something a little different. They went door to door to a few lucky admitted students' homes and congratulated them with an admissions acceptance packet and balloons in our cardinal and gold spirit colors. The first step to becoming a Trojan: love our colors and wear them often. I was brought to tears watching this video because it reminded me of when I got my acceptance letter from the University of Southern California. At the end of the video, this one young man who was accepted looked at the camera and said "You will not be disappointed with your decision. I am going to do big things at USC and show you that you made a great choice." A young me had said the same thing 2 years prior. The type of student who should attend USC truly wants to make a difference in their community and eventually in the world.

Sports. Football season is huge at USC. Additionally, almost everyone seems to be into some sport to stay in shape. LA life. Theres so much to do in LA: museums, hikes, parks, beach, shopping, all the touristy things. Friends. It is true: people in Cali are friendlier than average, and you will seldom find a loner.

The University of Southern California is widely known for its sporting events. Many students who attend the university make it point to cheer for their Trojan colleagues at the different events; with the most popular sport being football. Given that football season is steadily approaching nearer, these are among the events that I most look forward to. An additional activity that many students enjoy doing is networking. One of the distinguishing factors that lead me to apply to the university, is its pride in encouraging students to engage with one another and to uphold a familial campus atmosphere. Finally, another fun activity that many Trojan students enjoy, is listening in on lectures of guest speakers. During my undergraduate years, I had the opportunity to gain exposure to the USC, by volunteering for the event at which President Barack Obama addressed the student body and encouraged them to exercise their right to vote. Having the chance to partake in such an event further enhanced my yearning to one day become an addition to the campus as a graduate student where I could potentially witness many more phenomenal guest speakers. I am both proud and immensely grateful to claim that I have earned my place as a member of the Trojan family today and I look forward to the aforementioned activities, as well as the brilliant peers and revered faculty that I am bound to encounter.

I'm enrolled in the Rossier School of Education at the University of Southern California, but I do my program completely online so that I have plenty of time to work when I can. For this reason, I can't speak to exactly what students at USC do for fun, but I am a Los Angeles native and have spent plenty of time in the area near USC. So, my top three suggestions are:

1) Picnics at the rose garden just outside of USC 2) Rock and roll shows around town (especially in nearby Echo Park or Silverlake) 3) Exploring the nearby museums

USC has Academic Centers throughout Southern California. I will be attending the San Diego Academic Center. In San Diego there are lots of fun things to do. The first thing that comes to mind regarding this topic is the beach. The beaches in San Diego are gorgeous. My favorites are Ocean Beach, Coronado, and Mission Beach. Secondly, outdoor recreation is very important. Some favorite spots for hiking, swimming, and site seeing in San Diego are Torrey Pines State Park, Mt. Woodson Trail, Cowles Mountain, La Jolla Cove, and Sunset Cliffs. Last, but certainly not least, food and drink are very important here. In San Diego, being only miles from the International Border with Mexico, we have some amazing Mexican food, and amazing drinks. A favorite hot spot for Mexican Food is Old Town. Favorite places for wonderful drinks are the Gaslamp District, Hillcrest, Northpark, Pacific Beach, and Ocean Beach.

Despite its reputation, the University of Southern California actually does provide many opportunities for fun that don't involve being black out drunk (though, for some reason, that seems more popular for most of the students). Since it's in L.A., students are able to have experiences unparalleled and unavailable in any other part of the country. 1.Beach Day Where else but sunny california would you be able to go straight from class to the Pacific ocean in 20 minutes or less? Students often head off to Venice Beach or the Santa Monica pier when the weather allows. 2. Disneyland yes, it's spendy. But IT'S LESS THAN AN HOUR AWAY. Sophomore slump? The happiest place on earth is calling your name. A lot of students even have season passes, or go at least once a semester with their fraternity or sorority. 3. LA Live/DTLA The Staples Center. Movie theatres. Luxury Hotels. The Grammys. All of these things happen less than 10 minutes away from campus. You could even have a high class meal and go bowling if you wanted. Students often go to LA live when they want to take advantage of the metropolitan benefits LA has to offer. I even saw Beyonce there once (and it was the greatest).
