It has a huge intramural system and leagues within to stimulate a good level of competition. The religious services are also very important and fun to go to. Then finally, being in the dorms around your friends is the best.

Students at Southern Adventist University are active as close to home as their community, to across the nations. A hiking trail nearby is utilized for Sabbaths walks or nature hikes throughout the rest of the week. Southern has created outreach programs aiding the community in services such as playing with small children so parents have that extra time to themselves or do whatever work that needs to be done without distraction. Students also enjoy reaching our world by going on mission trips throughout the nations sharing hope and help to those in need.

Many students will hang out, study, and play recreational games at the Student Center. Others might go to the gym or pool at the Wellness Center. For a more gastronomical endeavor, one might even go the Village Market, both to peruse the wares as well as meet people there.

At SAU, students either play sports, go hiking, or sing music for fun. For example, on Friday nights after vespers, students gather in the guy's dorm to get together and sing praise songs.

When I tell people that I attend Southern Adventist University, most people respond by tilting their head and remarking, "Ohhh, you mean the hippie school!" SAU has a unique vibe; most students at other colleges spend their time drinking and partying, but the students at my school would rather rock climb, kick a hacky sack around, or play our ukuleles and guitars together outside. Before I graduated high school, I was worried about the pressures and temptations of colleges. But everything is so relaxed here, and I felt right at home as soon as I walked onto the campus.
