Student, Urbana High School, Class of 2016,
A student should not attend Urbana High School if they are easily influenced. It is easy to lose who you are at our school. Many people may try to change you to fit our school "norm" which is popularity. The popular students at our school, are people who play many sports, are very sexually active, and are involved with drugs. If you are easily influenced, Urbana High may not be for you. If you play many sports, you may not be focused on your school work, even though you may not be looking for a career in sports, which is counter-productive. If you are abstinent, there are a number of people who will try to get you to break your virginity for what they want or in exchange for popularity. If you live a life style involving drugs, you may not be able to get a job and you may get addicted, which is an exceedingly large distraction from priorities. You must come into Urbana High School with an idea of who you are or, better yet, an idea of who you would like to be. It is easy to be swayed and adopt destructive behavior in exchange for popularity. Moreover, just because you would be labeled as popular, does not mean that it is a good thing. Popularity at our school is almost always a negative thing, despite the, short-lived, social praise you may receive. It is most important to be strong-willed to be at Urbana High School.
