Highly intelligent. USC is not an easy school. I graduated HS valedictorian and found myself being average in all my science classes. But whats even more important than being intelligent, you gotta have heart. Those students who work the hardest and smartest are the ones who succeed, not the ones with the most credentials or impressive backgrounds. Preppy, classy, outfit conscious, however you wanna call it. People here are good looking and do their best to try to look good. You gotta be social. USC is a very social school. We have tons of clubs and almost everyone I know is involved in something: clubs, greek life, research, anyway you look at it, youre gonna have to interact with lots of people every day.

USC students very much separate themselves from the rest of the pack. They stand as natural leaders who excel in the classroom and through their community service efforts. Many students understand that USC possesses the necessary networking and resources needed in order to become a visionary of tomorrow. Knowing how rigorous this task is does not deter USC students from reaching their goals. Through their work ethic, many USC graduates will go on to do great things in their communities and around the world.

A typical student at USC is ambitious, hardworking, friendly, and intelligent. If you have these qualities, USC would be a great place for you.

Anonymous, Student, University of Southern California, Class of 2018

The typical USC student is either incredibly wealthy or a scholarship student, like myself. Tuition is incredibly expensive and USC has a reputation of being the "University of Spoiled Children" since many of the wealthy students are "legacies", meaning that their entire family has attended and graduated from USC. The university makes subtle promises to give "legacies" priority in admission over non-legacies and some speculate that they receive priority since their parents have the means to donate to the school. But, of course, non-legacies like myself do get in through hard work. But, there are perks to attending USC: an immense sense of unity. Everyone LOVES football and it is the one activity that completes unifies the school. School spirit is incredibly strong at USC and we are constantly reminded that USC is a "family of Trojans" and that we will be able to make the connections (with professors and fellow students) necessary to obtain jobs in the future and give jobs to fellow Trojans. Academics at USC are incredibly challenging and competition is tough. Personally, before I came to USC, I was used to getting A's with ease. At USC, getting an A is much harder since ALL of us are working hard to make A's. This sets the bar up high and leads to disappointment for students who wish to slack off and keep their 4.0. In conclusion, most USC students are wealthy legacies or scholarship students who adore football and are willing to work harder than usual to survive USC's rigorous curriculum.

USC strives to be one of the most diverse college campus there is. USC consists of a large number of international students as well as other races represented. However, it is hard to fully assess the validity of this statement; USC students are compromised of everything. There is no "typical" student. There are the international students, the home bound students, those in fraternities and sororities, nerds, I can go on and on, but there isn't a set standard, we are very diverse. Although USC is a major frat location, if a student is interested in Greek life, USC is a great place to be. Also if a student loves the California weather, USC is also a great place to be.

Anonymous, Student, University of Southern California, Class of 2017

It varies. USC enrolls students from all walks of life and from all over. Some students are new to college for the first time while others may be professionals like myself seeking graduate or post graduate level education. There's an eclectic mix of individuals and personalities.

Anonymous, Student, University of Southern California, Class of 2017

There is no type of person except one that is ambitious, because everyone here has goals and aspirations of the highest standards. Still, our school is so diverse, so anyone who is looking to make great connections with the Trojan family and have the best four years of their life should come here.

Anonymous, Student, University of Southern California, Class of 2017

The "typical" USC student is any and every student. USC is a diverse school. The best part about that, is how tightly-knit the USC family still remains. Anyone and everyone is welcomed, and we're all unique in our differences.

Anonymous, Student, University of Southern California, Class of 2018

The average USC student strives for excellence as they are fully aware of the institution they are a part of and work hard to maintain those expectations. The students are also very eclectic, mixing their culture along with the variety of cultures that are of the campus and the surrounding Los Angeles area. These students take advantage of gaining awareness of the community around them and promote immersion within the community. USC students are united and take pride of where they not only study, but where they come from as well, making them strong and capable students.

It is hard to describe just one type of USC student. USC celebrates diversity, so students are from all walks of life including socio-economic status, race, gender, sexuality, religion, and political affiliation. This makes the student body of USC beautiful and each unique student beautiful in their own way. One commonality among most USC students would be the desire to learn, grow, and serve their communities in whatever capacity they feel led to. I would also add that most USC students like sunshine, that's important here in Southern California.
