Anonymous,

A student with a passion for service and a sense of community. Virginia Tech has a motto of UT Prosim; his means "That I may serve." Our campus is covered with cadets that are following a path to serve their community. We also have multiple campus wide service events and these are not mandatory but most of the student population come out to these because that is the nature of the college. The sense of service creates a common ground among the students creating a strong sense of community. I went to Ecuador for a study abroad and met a fellow hokie alum. He was there serving the community of Ecuador. This shows what the community is like. A student with a strong sense of serve searching for a strong community would fit in perfectly at Virginia Tech.

The type of student who should attend Virginia Tech is one who is determined, hard-working, and optimistic. A Hokie should be all of these things in order to pay tribute to those lost in the April 16, 2008 shootings. A Hokie should always be grateful because not everyone gets such a great opportunity.

Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University is a large university so the type of student that goes here should be comfortable not knowing everyone that attends. Virginia Tech is a rigorous academic college so students should be driven and hardworking individuals. This college offers many opportunities to join clubs and organizations. A big motto of this university is 'Ut Prosim' which means, "that i may serve". Virginia Tech is big on volunteering as demonstrated through the Big Event which is a yearly event where students go out into the community to help out and also smaller everyday activities. This college is academically challenging, but lots of fun and provides many opportunities to get involved in every type of organization imaginable.
