Habits have a bad name. Advantages of habits
They are familiar to us and familiar things provide security: this can be the permanent employer as well as the always the same way to work, the dear colleagues, the whims of others who tell us "oh yes, it's you", the beloved shoes
You can provide stability and a solid setting: We are pleased about the monthly pay packet, the choir, the birthday round, but also on the Friday night thriller or Sunday morning with the newspaper.
They can also be a source of power and a resource to give warmth and comfort: the weekly telephone conversation with a partner or girlfriend, the monthly wellness day, candle and tea on winter evenings.
They save us from thinking about every step and constantly making decisions: for example, I have 20 to 30 teas at home to be able to choose a different tea depending on the "thirst for tea". However, I always start the day with the same "good morning tea" it is faster and a nice habit.
They even bring us to high mastery. For what are the many thousands of hours that we are engaged in dealing with a profession, a hobby or similar, other than habits?
Become more creative with habits
By the way, even creative people use habits to be creative (he). Moreover, no, that is not a contradiction now.
Sure, if you want to train your creativity, you might want to go to work every now and then, instead of routinely rolling down the same streets and perhaps overlooking the new traffic light for the hundredth time waving your custom trap. However, habits can also give room for creativity or let it really get going. For example, many authors need fixed time slots to write. Other writers may relax their gray cells on a regular basis with a small walk or get into the mood with stimulating music.
