It's hard to describe a 'typical' student on this campus. Anyone and everyone is welcome at IVC. There's a large diversity of students here - whether they be young or old, part-time or full-time, short or tall, IVC's community is open and welcoming. We are all one big family that doesn't exclude anyone, no matter the reason. I don't believe there is a typical student! The diversity of our school makes it difficult to define a single student that represents all of us.

They should be highly motivated and driven. Our school has a high success rate of transfer and we pride ourselves in that. A student at IVC better be prepared to take school seriously and settle for nothing less than success.

Having over a 60% transfer rate, Irvine Valley College was ranked #1 in the state of California in 2012. The high rate of transfer is directly linked to the average student interest in their education and career, making IVC a university where the typical student is a hardworking and capable student. Students all across Orange County and even Riverside and Los Angeles County come to IVC looking to better themselves and learn through a higher level education. A person who attends Irvine Valley College should be a dedicated student with a passion for what they do, because IVC is where you will find a faculty and campus that allows students to propel themselves into an intelligent and fun workplace.

A typical student, based on my experience, is someone who does things such as; welcome freshman to the school, help each other to the best of their ability, and display generous and helpful characteristics.

We are mostly in and out and don't socialize more, IVC is a small community college and everyone is trying to transfer as quickly as possible.

A typical Irvine College Student is completing courses to transfer to a four-year university. Students here are very diverse and come from all different ages and backgrounds. Irvine Valley College is an effective choice for students who may not be able to afford attending a university straight out of high school, students who many not have gotten into their first-choice university and want another chance of transferring their after two years at IVC, and students who may not be sure what major or career they want to pursue and can take courses at IVC to figure it out.

The typical Irvine Valley College student is focused on succeeding academically. Their goal is to receive a certificate or transfer to a four year college with a great academic achievement record. They prefer classroom size classes instead of stadium classes, which allows students to participate and interact closely with professors.
