Student, Baton Rouge Magnet High School, Class of 2016,
The type of student that should not attend BRMHS is a procrastinator. BRMHS is a college prep school and the teachers and faculty treat the students like college kids. They have high expectations and almost zero tolerarance for any excuses. Missing multiple days, let alone one, is unheard of because students would have to make up work for weeks to finally catch up. Teachers load work on students like they are the only teacher these students have. Also, if ranking is extremely important to you, BRMHS might not be the school for you. Nearly half the school has a 4.0 or above; it is not easy to stand out academically. A social life is impossible to have with the amount of work the students have every night, without fail. Social gatherings consist of late night study sessions at the library. There aren't any pep rally worthy sports, which takes away from the "high school experience." The most exciting sport we have to offer is track. Overall, if a high school experience and reputation is your principle goal during your high school career, BRMHS is the worst school to go to.
