Student, Arizona State University-Tempe, Class of 2018
,Very Immersive Classroom - The teachers are quite knowledgeable and are VERY willing to help! They have office hours for you to come in and review your tests and quizzes, or just for when you have questions. They're super helpful, and will do their best to ensure you are successful! The teachers using students for class enactments and explanations of ho things work is not uncommon--some really love to help out bodily/kinesthetic learners! They also are polite and respectful, so you won't have to worry about feeling out of place. They respond to your emails in a timely manner as well, so you're never left hanging.
Overwhelming Resources - ASU is so dedicated to success that they have a branch of support services called First-Year Success Coaching! Your FYS coach is a good reference and helpful tool--they're able to access and send you information that you may not have received, and even send you opportunities for jobs, scholarships, internships, and more! There are financial aid branches, FREE tutoring, (offered by more than just your class--the residence hall may provide it as well!) a health office, (almost like visiting the doctor,) academic advisors, and many others! There is also a class called ASU 101 that you must take your freshman year. It is full of information about the school, who's around to help you, and where you can go if you have a specific problem that needs aiding! ASU gives you all you need to survive college!
Friendly Atmosphere - It can be tough to get through school when you don't get along with anybody. ASU students and faculty are comforting and inviting and are very easy to work with in group projects/sessions! Group work is very collaborative and isn't strenuous because responsibilities for each part of the project are stated up front and contact information is exchanged in case there is an emergency or someone needs help/clarification! It works out very well because the work goes smoothly, everyone isn't frustrated, and the teamwork not only trains you for real-life situations where you'll need to work with somebody in the workforce, but you also earn better grades which is a win-win situation for everyone!
