I graduated with Bachelor of Art degrees in English and Psychology (3.75 cumulative GPA), as well as a Masters degree in English (3.8 GPA), from the University of Kansas. Go Jayhawks! Currently, I am studying to obtain an official Texas teacher certificate, and eventually, I hope to teach high school level ELA. While completing my undergraduate and graduate degrees, I worked for a major test preparation company for three years, teaching the LSAT, GRE, ACT, and PSAT. Once I arrived in Shanghai, I taught international high school students reading comprehension, writing, and test preparation skills. I believe real learning is achieved when the mind is most engaged, so it follows that a teacher should be dynamic and any lesson, interactive. In all exchanges with my students, I strive to be encouraging, enthusiastic, and entertaining. At the same time, I believe in the importance of good preparation and follow through; if I am unsure of an answer to a student's question, I will do my best to not leave it unanswered. Fun Facts: Just arrived back to the States from a 5 year stint in Shanghai, China! In my spare time, I love to read sci-fi, comedy, and horror stories, as well as take my dog for bike rides; he sits in the basket. I love cooking and eating all foods, EXCEPT for beets.
