I'm a professional bass player in Austin Texas, the Live Music Capital of the World. At one time or another I've played just about every style of music, and I have more than a decade of teaching experience. I love 'opening doors' for students, helping them understand how music works and how they can sound better than ever. I graduated from B.I.T. in Los Angeles and I have thousands of hours of teaching, gigging, and recording experience. I'll share that experience with you! *** Lesson Details *** I like to use real music to show how technical concepts work. Once I've gotten to know you and your musical goals and preferences, I'll point you towards the knowledge you need, and show you how that knowledge works in the music you like. *** Studio Equipment *** Music room: recording equipment, bass, amp, chairs, music stands, additional seating for parents. *** Travel Equipment *** I bring my bass, iPod, tuner, drum machine, manuscript paper, etc. The student needs to provide adequate space and amplification. *** Specialties *** Theory, fingerstyle, thumb, reading notation & chord symbols, blues, country, funk, jazz, rock, soul.

Noodle says

Takelessons started as a platform to for music teachers, and is still strongest on that front. It provides tutors with organizational software designed to help track lessons, and so probably attracts more tech-friendly, highly organized tutors. No vetting or training is provided for tutors, so we highly recommend that you use their ratings and reviews when selecting a tutor.

TakeLessons says

Success in learning often depends on finding the right teacher; someone that not only has expertise in the subject, but also knows how to inspire. The teaching style that works for one student may not work for another. As a parent or student, how do you find the right match? As a teacher, how do you find new students that fit your style? TakeLessons bridges this gap.
