My name is Alli and I am a recent graduate from UNC Chapel Hill with a degree in child development and family studies education as well as a degree in psychology. While my education program focused on birth to kindergarten education, I am a fully licensed teacher from birth to 6th grade. I am currently working at The Little School at Duke as a preschool teacher in a 3-year-old classroom, but I'd also like to supplement this job by working with children in any way that I can! I have 8 years of experience with single-handedly teaching music to 100 kids per summer, ages 3 - 12, every summer at my local church. Even though it's not a paid position, I always find myself coming back because I love interacting with all the children. It's a really rewarding experience seeing how far they come at the musical performance at the end of the camp! I've also babysat for a family of 3 (ages 7 - 13 and one of which has special needs) for 4 years and tutored various middle school and elementary school students in all subjects for 4 years. This year was my second year working at the Carolina Friends School Summer program teaching camps for children ranging from 5-13 years old. This year I singlehandedly created and led a ukulele camp, teaching 6-8-year-olds how to play ukulele and it was a great success! I have recently been giving private ukulele lessons to children and would love to add more ukulele lessons to my schedule if that's something your children are interested in as well! I've been playing ukulele for the past three years as a member in The Carolina Ukulele Ensemble at UNC Chapel Hill and I've been a member of the advanced ensemble since I helped create it in the fall of 2013. I've also been playing the drums for fourteen years. I started taking drumset lessons when I was eight and have played in several bands (one of which was a contemporary worship service band that played weekly for four years). I also participated in concert bands for nine years playing percussion. I was on Northport High School's drumline my four years of high school playing marching bells and I played the fourth bass drum on UNC Chapel Hill's drumline for three years. I love children, interacting with them and helping them, which is why even after working as a preschool teacher full time, I'd still like to be able to find work babysitting, tutoring or giving music lessons to children. I am very responsible, caring, reliable and lots of fun, so your children would be in great hands!

Noodle says

Takelessons started as a platform to for music teachers, and is still strongest on that front. It provides tutors with organizational software designed to help track lessons, and so probably attracts more tech-friendly, highly organized tutors. No vetting or training is provided for tutors, so we highly recommend that you use their ratings and reviews when selecting a tutor.

TakeLessons says

Success in learning often depends on finding the right teacher; someone that not only has expertise in the subject, but also knows how to inspire. The teaching style that works for one student may not work for another. As a parent or student, how do you find the right match? As a teacher, how do you find new students that fit your style? TakeLessons bridges this gap.
