Semi Kim is a junior Elementary Education major with a focus in math at the University of Maryland, College Park. She was born in South Korea and moved to the United States at the age of 12. Growing up as an immigrant student, she experienced the significant impact of education on her and her family. Semi loves working with kids and finds early education extremely important which led her to choose elementary as her career field. She has had many experiences in tutoring and student teaching in elementary and middle schools in Prince George’s County, MD and Washington, DC. She has worked with students from different backgrounds and gained more passion by working with students who were academically struggling and in need. In addition, Semi is bilingual in Korean and English. Aside from teaching, Semi is a leader in many organizations including Korean International Student Association (KISA) and Christian ministries on campus. It is Semi’s goal to become a teacher/tutor who truly loves and helps her students to reach their full potential.
