I am majoring in civil engineering at California State University, Fresno. I am starting junior year of my college in fall 2014. I graduated from High School with a GPA of 3.93. I was salutatorian of Kerman High School's graduating class of 2010. I was on dean's list in Fall semester 2013. My plan is to earn master degree in civil or environmental engineering from University of California, Berkeley. My career goals are to become an Engineer and Professor. From middle school, I have the passion of helping my friends and cousins in learning subjects and doing homework. As a member of Louis Stokes Alliance for minority Participation, I got an opportunity of being a Peer Mentor. As a Peer Mentor, I met students one on one for thirty minutes every two weeks. I discussed their career plans, time-management skills, study skills, anything and everything to help them succeed in college. I volunteered as a teacher assistant in Kerman Sikh Youth Association since 2010. I taught young students Punjabi language and Sikh religion every Sunday. I am detail-orientated, focused and organised person. As a tutor, I would bring these qualities to my students. My teaching approach would be breaking down the problem into parts. In this way, student will easily get the idea of how, what and when to take the steps to solve the problem. I would not solve the problem for student but I will show the similar problem to students. My goal of teaching would be that my students will able to understand the concept and apply it to solve any problem not just a particular problem. Fun Facts: I love dancing. I do not know how to dance but I dance only in my bedroom. When people met me first time, they think I am shy and serious person but once they get to know me, they will say that I am funny and have positive attitude. I am the first girl going to college from my family. I love organizing everything like books, notes, clothes and makeup etc.
