**About Special Needs students: I am open to teaching students with special needs, but I have not received special training. If the parent or guardian of a special needs student is willing to be present for lessons to add their support and specific understanding of the needs involved, I would be happy to work with them.** I have a Bachelor's Degree in Violin Performance from the University of Utah and studied with Utah Symphony veteran John Chatelain. I have three years experience teaching privately. I've been in many orchestras, played in some fiddle contests, and I was a member of one rock band. I'm open to teaching all styles of music, and meeting all types of students. I think it's important to teach people music that they want to play, and would want to listen to. Beyond that, I do my best to explain music and technique in plain, and even scientific ways because I believe that even 'artsy' things like music can still make sense. I look forward to working with you! *** Lesson Details *** How lessons progress really depends on what the student needs, and wants, to learn. If you have already played, with another teacher, in a school group, or even just experimented on your own, bring something you've done before to the first lesson and we'll start from there. *** Studio Equipment *** Stand, recording equipment, keyboard (and other instruments). *** Travel Equipment *** Students only need the items that they would require to practice: instrument, music, and a stand (except in the case of fiddle where they may only need their instrument).

Noodle says

Takelessons started as a platform to for music teachers, and is still strongest on that front. It provides tutors with organizational software designed to help track lessons, and so probably attracts more tech-friendly, highly organized tutors. No vetting or training is provided for tutors, so we highly recommend that you use their ratings and reviews when selecting a tutor.

TakeLessons says

Success in learning often depends on finding the right teacher; someone that not only has expertise in the subject, but also knows how to inspire. The teaching style that works for one student may not work for another. As a parent or student, how do you find the right match? As a teacher, how do you find new students that fit your style? TakeLessons bridges this gap.
