I have always been very interested in creating and studying literature. I graduated from UC Santa Barbara in 2011 with Highest Honors (GPA: 3.89), where I was nominated and elected by faculty members as a 2010 Arnhold Undergraduate Fellow. I have published academic and creative work, and will be starting grad school at Portland State University in 2015. I plan to pursue an MA in Postsecondary Adult Counseling and Education. My final career goal is to be an Academic Advisor at a University. I have tutored for over nine years. I completed a Tutor Training Practicum as a college student, and worked as a private tutor while a university student at UC Santa Barbara. I have furthermore been employed for several years as a Private/SES Tutor, and in an administrative capacity, by private tutoring companies. I have worked with a diverse group of tutees, and feel equally comfortable working with children and adults. I make sure that my approach to tutoring is always flexible, so that it suits the needs of the individual tutee. Yet I have a basic strategy which I use with most students, which has been very successful in my experience. At the initial appointment I spend a several minutes chatting with the tutee concerning their strengths and weaknesses in the given subject. Once we have identified what we need to work on in general, I design an individualized learning strategy by the next appointment deigned to improve the student's fundamental understanding of the material. I seek to help the student achieve a spherical understanding of the material, so that they can truly comprehend the concepts and use them as tools for future academic success. Fun Facts: I have a decade of tutoring experience as a private and professional tutor. I feel at home working with students of all ages. I very much enjoy helping people learn!
