My name is Andre, I'm 24 years old, and currently reside in Syosset, NY. I pride myself in being the best teacher to all of my students, and to have them succeed in all they do! I'm a goal oriented, passionate, and motivated individual full of personality who thoroughly believes learning music should be fun and easy! I help my students to find the motivation within themselves so that they will be able to watch themselves grow as musicians. My students will be able to achieve as much as possible in and out of the classroom. Music is one of many subjects where you're learning mostly by experience! Therefore, students should be able find that their growth depends on the work they put into every lesson as well as every one of their practice efforts. Their constant involvement in music will allow them to think and act as musicians, helping them to understand that we all learn from every musical situation we're put in! I enjoy helping my students to achieve a sense of confidence in the way they play their instrument(s) as well by creating as many musical experiences as possible to have students actively participating. My goal is to instill the passion, drive, and energy that music has brought into my own life into the lives of others. Music speaks to the soul of many musicians and much like any primary language we speak, music is learned, and finally mastered! I want to be a part of my students journey on their road to success in being the best musician they can be! At the end of my high school career, I decided to take my musical studies further to Five Towns College located in Dix Hills, NY, where I studied music education, and my major instrument was tuba! It was my freshmen year at college when I decided to teach myself how to play electric bass guitar. I found myself constantly feeling motivated to learn more about music, how to play more instruments through putting myself in as many musical situations as possible! Going to college and having first hand experiences in all of the musical opportunities the world has to offer has made me the well-rounded individual and skilled musician I am today. However, students can have these same experiences without having to wait until college. It's never too early to get started learning an instrument, and it's most certainly never too late! I want my students to always feel proud of their musical successes and teach them all that I can while constantly reminding them that you can do and achieve ANYTHING you put your mind to. "Success follows doing what you want to do." *** Lesson Details *** I like to have my students in a relaxed learning environment. Music is totally something to have fun with as you learn it. Students should always be prepared with necessary tools that are needed for all lessons (i.e. pencil, instrument, lesson book, any material handed out at previous lessons, etc.). Students can expect to start learning from the minute they walk into their lesson until the very end. Students should come into lessons with a positive energy! *** Studio Equipment *** Five Towns College: practice rooms w/ pianos seating for parents *** Travel Equipment *** I expect my students to provide their own instrument as well as any amplifiers they may need if they are guitarists. Students should always hold onto whatever work is given to them to practice on their own time. Students should also have access to their own tuner and/or metronome, and should also have a pencil on them at all times. *** Specialties *** I can teach many different styles of music ranging from classical, baroque, jazz, contemporary jazz, swing, big band, pop, alternative rock, hard rock, electronic music, funk, R&B, Soul, Blues. I also have an array of different learning techniques (for select instruments) to help acquire the playing technique required for different styles of music.
