I started tutoring/teaching 8 years ago as a freshman in high school. I was too young to be teaching any of the school subjects, but I shared my expertise in swimming and playing the saxophone to kids ages ranging from 6-12. I volunteered as a swim instructor at my city's community pool every summer for four years and received recommendations from many happy parents. It was a very rewarding experience teaching people a skill that could very well save their lives one day. As for teaching saxophone, I had over 7 different students over the four years that I gave private lessons too. They all ended up achieving the lead positions in their respective schools and honor ensembles that represented the entire school district. Once starting college, I felt qualified enough to teach high school subjects and utilized everything I learned form my previous working experience. I am a senior at UC Berkeley, and during the past four years my students have mostly consisted of community college students needing a little bit of help in the science subjects including physics, math, chemistry, and biology. The only limiting factor for myself is transportation and finding times/places to meet up with them. I believe InstaEdu provides a great solution to this problem. My tutoring experience has been very rewarding thus far, and I hope to continue helping students and making sure they get those grades they want.
